Green Day has now committed to an exclusive for Rock Band, according to details shared by MTV Games. The move is the first involving the band and a participatory music game. The first installment will be a three-pack of songs from the latest release, 21st Century Breakdown, specifically "21 Guns," "Know Your Enemy," and "East Jesus Nowhere". The action starts July 7th on Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
Other tracks will be announced, and the classics are probably not far behind. But Warner Bros. Records is focusing on the newer stuff, part of an effort to shift the incredibly energy from the mid-90s to now. "This unique deal with MTV creates a true partnership with Green Day, Reprise and Harmonix as we embark upon the next great era of Green Day," said Tom Whalley, chairman and chief executive at Warner Bros. Green Day is signed to the Warner-owned Reprise sublabel.
