Rapstress, Lauryn
Hill, back in the late 1990s redefined the female MC with a
stamp of style, grace, poise and intelligence that has not been preceded
or replicated since her entry into the hip hop industry. In fact, most
hip hop connoisseurs would probably state that post-Lauryn Hill, even
less is expected from female rappers. With the kind of wanton sexuality
and overexposed material gratification that rappers like Lil Kim
and Foxy Brown helped usher into the early 2000s, it's very rare
that a female rapper does anything that will force her to stand out in
the crowd. So, the question we have for our DimeWars readers is simple.
With the likes of Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim feuding over female MC
supremacy, what would a Lauryn Hill re-entry do to hip hop? How will
either rapper or their fans react to another Miseducation Of Lauryn
Hill Album? Is her style outdated or just what hip hop needs these
days? Let us know in the comments section below.
