Juliette Lewis hospitalized after hit-and-run accident
Actress/singer Juliette Lewis has escaped serious injury after the car she was traveling in was involved in a horrific hit-and-run accident in California on Wednesday night.
The star was being driven home from a promotional event for her new film, "Conviction," when a Honda slammed into the side of her Lincoln Town Car at an intersection in Burbank.
She was admitted to a nearby medical center where she was treated for minor injuries and was discharged hours later.
Her representative tells TMZ.com, "(Lewis) went to the hospital to be checked out and is a bit banged up and sore but otherwise thankfully OK. She is now resting at home."
The driver of the Honda sped off after the incident, although police found the vehicle abandoned not far from the crash site. The suspect was nowhere to be seen.
Sources tell the website Lewis is lucky to have emerged with just scratches and bruises, because the Lincoln was "completely totaled" in the collision.
Police have launched an investigation into the hit-and-run.

Chelsea Handler dismisses 50 Cent romance rumors
The "In Da Club" hit maker sparked romance rumors when he was spotted getting cozy with Handler at a jazz bar in New Orleans, Louisiana at the weekend, just days after professing his love for her talk show, "Chelsea Lately."
The hip-hop star failed to put an end to the speculation when snappers quizzed him on his way to a restaurant in Beverly Hills, California on Tuesday, but Handler is adamant there is no romance.
In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "Everyone, calm down. I met with Mr. Cent about a potential project. There's nothing to report yet, I'll let you know if there is."
Kevin Jonas to become a dad?
Newlyweds Kevin Jonas and Danielle Deleasa were spotted shopping for a home pregnancy kit in West Hollywood last month, according to a new In Touch article.
The couple wed in December and friends tell the publication they would not be surprised if the Jonases are about to become parents: "They're mature for their age, and they want to start a family. They'd consider it a major blessing if Danielle was pregnant."
In 2008, the pop star, 22, famously told Details magazine that he would wait until marriage to have sex.
Tila Tequila loses legal fight to keep sex tape private
According to TMZ.com, the star, real name Tila Nguyen, filed for an injunction to stop the release of the explicit video, made during a holiday with a boyfriend more than seven years ago.
Her lawyer claimed the tape is an invasion of her privacy and a misappropriation of her image.
But a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge rejected the argument on Thursday, noting "Tila exploits her sexuality."
The judge also ruled that there wasn't enough evidence to issue a restraining order against the star's ex, whose name has not been released.
Tila rose to fame as a popular Internet pin-up on MySpace.com, and has since become known as the bisexual star of the reality dating show "A Shot At Love."
Mark Wahlberg worried about pals' perception
The "Boogie Nights" star grew up in a rough area of Boston and turned to drugs and crime as a teen before a stint in jail prompted him to turn his life around.
But Wahlberg admits he still tries to impress friends from his old neighborhood with "tough guy" roles.
He tells Empire magazine, "I am a bit self-conscious. I grew up in a tough neighborhood and it's cool if you're playing a tough guy, but playing the vulnerable guy, the p**sy, the guy who doesn't win and who doesn't get the girl, that is always in the back of my mind as a potential concern. Too often I have wanted approval from my peers back home and respect from guys in general, but as an actor you've got to be able to do different things. ...
"Having turned my life around, I was a 'p**sy' and I was a 'fag'. Excuse the language, but that's just the way it was. It was f**ked up."
But Wahlberg admits he has learned to cut out friends who were holding him back from Hollywood success.
He adds, "There are a lot (of friends) that are trying to turn their lives around. But ultimately I couldn't continue to give my friends jobs if they weren't focused on doing the right thing. ... You get to know who your real friends are."
Christina Ricci wants to move away from playing shy characters because in real life she is "always the loudest one" in the room.
The former child star is famed for her more powerful roles in dramas including "Black Snake Moan" and "The Ice Storm" but admits she'd love to infuse her own feisty spirit into her acting.
And she reveals she jumped at the chance to star in Broadway play "Time Stands Still," playing a young events planner, Mandy Bloom.
Ricci tells the Associated Press, "While on film I can be very quiet and be this one kind of intensity; in real life I tend to be very big.
"I'm always the loudest one. I'm always the one in the make-up trailer who's making a fool of themselves ... or getting in trouble for this or that or the other. So I was like, 'I'd like to bring some of that more into my acting.' And just as I was starting to do that, the play came along."

Rihanna's fashion texts
The singers are known for their wild wardrobes but Rihanna is terrified they will one day be photographed in identical dresses, and she admits it takes a lot of planning to prevent a fashion faux pas.
Rihanna explains, "My worst nightmare would be a clash on the red carpet, so we all text each other before to make sure. We're all kind of fearless with fashion. So Katy and I speak all the time about what we're going to wear. And Gaga.
"One time we were going to the Met Ball, and Katy phoned me to check. We were like, 'Oh my god.' We were both going in this dress by Dolce and Gabbana with Marilyn Monroe's face all over it. She was like, 'You can't. I've had my nails done in mink and it matches the dress. I thought, seeing as she'd gone to all that effort, I'd let her wear it."
Lily Allen accepts damages over Beckham & Cheryl Cole story
Lily Allen has won damages over false claims she launched a bitter rant about The Beckhams and Cheryl Cole in a French magazine.
The singer was last year reported to have lashed out against Cole, while labeling Victoria Beckham a "monster" in an interview with So Foot. She was also said to have branded the former Spice Girl and her soccer star husband David a "sickening" couple.
Allen promptly denied giving an interview to the soccer publication, and she has now accepted undisclosed damages from So Foot editors at London's High Court.
The star's solicitor Mark Thomson says, "(Allen's) reputation has been vindicated."
The "Smile" hit maker previously sued editors of British tabloid The Sun for defamation and false attribution of authorship when they reprinted the alleged quotes. She was awarded $15,000 from the newspaper's publishers, News Group Newspapers, in October.
Weezer: 'We'll retire for $20 million'
James Burns wants to silence the band by paying them off and he's embarked on a bid to raise $10 million to split the group.
Burns claims the rockers have failed to live up to their 1996 album "Pinkerton," and he's taking his crusade online to find followers around the world.
The band is taking the campaign in its stride. Drummer Patrick Wilson joked they'll consider an inflated offer.
In a post on Twitter.com, he writes: "If they can make it 20 (million), we'll do the deluxe breakup."
Demi Moore's striptease is favorite guilty pleasure film
The 1996 film, in which the actress danced topless, led the Lovefilm.com poll aimed at finding the picture film buffs secretly love to watch.
Brad Pitt's "Troy" came in second place, while "Swordfish," starring John Travolta, Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman, was third.
Lovefilm.com editor Helen Cowley says, "Everyone has a guilty pleasure they perhaps don't want to admit to and, as the list illustrates, it's generally the films that critics love to hate."
Victoria Beckham: 'David and I are soul mates'
In a new Marie Claire article, the former Spice Girls star coos about her 11-year marriage to the soccer stud and model, insisting she's still madly in love with the L.A. Galaxy star.
She tells the publication, "We are still so close, David and I. We were at a party the other day at my mom's house and I was sitting on his lap. We're very affectionate.
"I looked at him and thought after being married for 11 years, we were the only couple who were even near each other at that party. We're soul mates."
And she'd adamant the rumors about her husband's infidelities are untrue: "Before I became famous I used to think there's no smoke without fire. But believe me, there can be a fire without smoke."
