Cameroon vs. Japan WC 2010 0-1 – Japan was able to silence
critics and beat the higher ranked club, Cameroon in the game today.
They were plying a fellow opponent from Group E. The Japanese team was
ranged much lower, but was able to capitalize on a number of mistakes
that were made by Cameroon throughout the match. Japan did not appear to
do anything that was capable of victory throughout the first half of
the match. Their passes sailed past who they were intended for, and they
rarely were able to complete crosses. Often times, they missed
clearings.
The one thing that they did not miss was diligence. They continued to
fight and attack throughout the game, and by the end it was just clear
that they wanted game, and by the end it was just clear that they wanted it more. Japan
was able to jump out to a 1-0 lead early, thanks in part to a bleached
blond midfielder. The team looked as though they might have a chance,
and by halftime it became clear that they were not the team that
everyone thought that they were at the beginning of the match.
Along with a great game played by Japan, Cameroon also failed to
capitalize on a number of their chances throughout the match. Japan was
ranked 45 in the world, compared to 19th Cameroon. It was expected to be
a lopsided victory for Cameroon, who has much more raw talent on their
roster. It quickly became clear that the Japanese team just wanted it
more, and was winning to put in the hard work, and was able to
capitalize on a number of different plays throughout the match that
Cameroon let slip through their fingers time and time again.
