Following his team's elimination from the NBA Western Conference Finals last week, Steve Nash is traveling to South Africa to cover the World Cup.

The Vancouver Sun reports that Nash, 36, will record eight videos for CBSSports.com, have a blog, and post photos. He will submit his content via his production company, Meathawk.

Born in Johannesburg, Nash was a two-time Most Valuable Player during his tenure with the Suns. The Suns lost the Western Conference Final in six games to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Nash moved to Canada when he was young and retained a life-long passion for soccer. He is a fan of Tottenham in the English Premier League.

“This project with CBSSports.com combines two of my passions off the basketball court: the 'beautiful game,' known internationally as 'football,' and video production," Nash said in the release, according to the Sun. "I look forward to shooting some memorable pieces from South Africa and giving fans a unique and sometimes humorous look at the World Cup."

Nash is the involved in ownership of the professional soccer team, the Vancouver Whitecaps.
