Brian Laws believes there were some positives to take from
Burnley's 3-1 defeat to Arsenal and he is backing them to beat the drop.
The result leaves the Clarets just a point from safety but Laws felt the final outcome was a little harsh on his side even though the full-time scoreline would suggest otherwise.
Arsene Wenger's men went ahead at the Emirates Stadium through a well-crafted goal by Cesc Fabregas goal but the visitors made a real fight of it as David Nugent bagged an equaliser at the start of the second-half.
The Gunners did manage to restore their advantage thanks to a fine finish by Theo Walcott but a hard-earned point could have been Burnley's had substitute Steven Thompson kept his snapshot on target with just five minutes remaining.
Having missed that golden opportunity, Arsenal then made sure of the result in stoppage time with a third goal from Andrey Arshavin.
However, Laws is convinced similar efforts between now and the end of the campaign will see the Clarets safe, with key clashes against Stoke and Wolves coming up next week at Turf Moor.
The Burnley boss said: "A lot of the times this season the players have folded, but against Arsenal we dug in during the second half.
"We had some opportunities but it is all about how you take them.
"Nugent finished his very well, which will give him a lift, and that is important because you want your strikers to be scoring goals.
"However, we just snatched at a few of our others, which eventually was the difference between the sides.
"But Arsenal's second goal never killed our spirit and the heads certainly did not go down, in fact the lads were pushing hard to get another equaliser.
"I have seen two sides of them now, they have been negative but against Arsenal they were positive and we can take that into our next two games, and what two big games they are."
