Rihanna and her baseball star boyfriend, Matt Kemp, have
been spotted happily out-and-about in recent weeks, but some sports fans
are now blaming Ri-Ri for Kemp's current sports slump.
During a home game against the New York Yankees on Sunday (June 27) the
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder was benched, after failing to keep his
game up in the team's last few match-ups. During the month of June,
Kemp's batting average has declined and he has scored only one home run
in his past 22 games. Some fans and sports bloggers are equating Kemp's
current field issues to his love life, similar to Dallas Cowboys player
Tony Romo's slump when he dated pop star Jessica Simpson.
Dodgers' manager Joe Torre isn't playing the Rihanna blame game,
however, currently chalking up Kemp's inconsistency to his age. "He's
unpredictable, let's put it that way," Torre told the L.A.
Times. "Any time he can jump up and hit a home run because of his
tools. There are rules on how consistent young players are going to be
until they get enough time in."
After months of speculation, Rihanna confirmed her relationship with the
Dodgers star in April, telling Ryan Seacrest: "It's new and it's fun."
