KENYAN Football Fans Killed In Stampede At Match

Seven football fans have been killed in a stampede at a match between two of Kenya's top teams, after some people apparently tried to get in without paying.

Six of the victims died when they were trampled on by the crowd and the seventh lost their life after being taken to hospital.
Another 30 people were hurt, including 14 critically, in the tragedy inside the Nyayo national stadium as AFC Leopards were playing Gor Mahia.
Jack Oguda, the head of the Kenya Premier League, said a gate was broken by fans who forced their way into the venue in the capital Nairobi.
He said: "Access was limited and they got agitated, and that's why they forced their way in."
Mr Oguda said the stadium was not full, adding that an inquiry would investigate why the fans could not get in properly.

"People tried to force entry during the match because they didn't want to pay," said David Matee, who works with the St John's Ambulance.
Television pictures showed medics trying to revive one supporter outside the stadium and ambulances taking away the injured.
Zedekiah Otieno, the coach of Gor Mahia, said: "Management should ensure that gates are open on time to avoid a mad rush to the stadium during games of this magnitude."
The match was temporarily halted, and was later won by AFC Leopards 1-0.
