Former President George W. Bush appeared on stage with Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg for a casual chat about his book and his tenure as commander-in-chief.
Former President George W. Bush has pledged not to publicly criticize his successor, Barack Obama, but he did offer some praise Monday during a live broadcast on Facebook to promote his new book.
Bush participated in an hour-long discussion on Facebook Live with the site's founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg and was asked what he thought the current administration was handling well. The former president responded that he liked Obama's policy on Afghanistan.
"I think the idea of putting more troops in was something that I can applaud," Bush said. "I also appreciate some of the education position. As I understand it they do believe strongly that accountability is necessary in order to achieve excellence in the classrooms."
As the discussion started, Zuckerberg asked Bush why he decided to appear on Facebook. Bush quipped: "Because you've got a lot of people paying attention to us, and I'm trying to sell books."
He then told Zuckerberg that he loves entrepreneurship and a country that could help make someone like Zuckerberg able to realize his dream and, in turn, create jobs for many people. "Yours is a really interesting company, and plus: I'm shamelessly marketing," he said.
Bush, whose book, "Decision Points," was released earlier this month, visited Facebook headquarters in Palo Alto, Calif., fielding questions from Zuckerberg, Facebook employees and those watching online who submitted questions during the broadcast on the company's streaming video channel.
"I've written this book because I recognize there's no such thing as accurate short-term history. I want to give future historians a perspective: mine," he said, adding, "I've also written it for people who wonder what it's like to be president."
Zuckerberg told Bush that he admired him for sticking with what he thought was right.
Bush said that after moving from Washington to Dallas he became a "Blackberry person" but is now an "iPad person." When asked what songs he had on his iPod, Bush said he didn't use it anymore when riding his mountain bike: "I like to hear the birds."
Bush quickly revised the statement, joking: "That's not true. I've got 'Decision Points' on my iPod."
On more serious questions, Bush said he still believes Iraq has the ability to be a stable democracy. "It'll work. We just have to hang in there," he said.
After the conversation turned to the recent release of more than a quarter-million classified diplomatic files posted by WikiLeaks, Bush said, "Leaks are very damaging and people who leak ought to be prosecuted."
"When you have a conversation with a foreign leader and it ends up in the newspaper, they didn't like it. I didn't like it," Bush said.
Bush said that "one of the great moments" of his life came this fall when he and his father, former President H.W. Bush, took the mound during the World Series between the Texas Rangers and the San Francisco Giants to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. He added that he feels it's a blessing to be able to spend time with his parents as they are getting older.
"I was given a great gift by George H.W. Bush, and that's unconditional love," he said.
"If you are fortunate enough to be a father, my advice is love your child with all your heart and soul," he said.
A little over halfway through the chat, the screen indicated that about 6,500 people were watching online.
As he wrapped up the discussion, Bush said that he was blessed and content.
"If you see me in an airport, I hope you wave with all five fingers, but if you don't you won't be the first," Bush said. "I'm a comfortable guy."

Wikileaks 'attacked by hackers'

War Logs website that organised some of the earlier Wikileaks Wikileaks has previously released documents relating to Iraq and Afghanistan
Whistle-blowing website Wikileaks says it has come under attack from a computer-hacking operation, ahead of a release of secret US documents.
"We are currently under a mass distributed denial of service attack," it said on its Twitter feed earlier.
It added that several newspapers will go ahead and publish the documents released to them by Wikileaks even if the site goes down.
The US state department has said the release will put many lives at risk.
Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has said the US authorities are afraid of being held to account.
Wikileaks has said the release of classified messages sent by US embassies will be bigger than past releases on Afghanistan and Iraq.
The newspapers set to publish details of the US embassy cables include Spain's El Pais, France's Le Monde, Germany's Spiegel, the UK's Guardian and the New York Times.
The latest leak is expected to include documents covering US dealings and diplomats' confidential views of countries including Australia, Britain, Canada, Israel, Russia and Turkey.
"The material that we are about to release covers essentially every major issue in every country in the world," Mr Assange told reporters by video link on Sunday.

Wikileaks

  • Whistle-blowing website with a reputation for publishing sensitive material
  • Run by Julian Assange, a secretive Australian with a background in computer network hacking
  • Released 90,000 secret US records of US military incidents about the war in Afghanistan and 400,000 similar documents on Iraq
  • Also posted video showing US helicopter killing 12 people - including two journalists - in Baghdad in 2007
  • Other controversial postings include screenshots of the e-mail inbox and address book of US vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin
A journalist with Britain's Guardian newspaper said the files include an unflattering US assessment of UK PM David Cameron.
Simon Hoggart told the BBC: "There is going to be some embarrassment certainly for Gordon Brown but even more so for David Cameron who was not very highly regarded by the Obama administration or by the US ambassador here."
No-one has been charged with passing the diplomatic files to the website but suspicion has fallen on US Army private Bradley Manning, an intelligence analyst arrested in Iraq in June and charged over an earlier leak of classified US documents to Mr Assange's organisation.
'Illegally obtained' The US government has written to Mr Assange, urging him not release the documents.
The letter from the US state department's legal adviser Harold Koh said the release of classified state department documents was against US law and would put "countless" lives at risk.
Mr Assange is said to have asked which individuals would be put at risk by the leak and offered to negotiate over limited redactions.
In response, Mr Koh demanded that Wikileaks return official documents to the US government.
"We will not engage in a negotiation regarding the further release or dissemination of illegally obtained US government classified materials," he said in the letter.
Mr Koh's letter adds that the publication of the documents would endanger the lives of "countless" individuals - from journalists to human rights activists and bloggers - and put US military operations at risk.
Wikileaks earlier this week said that its next release of documents would be nearly seven times larger than the nearly 400,000 Pentagon documents relating to the Iraq war it published in October.
Wikileaks argues that the site's previous releases shed light on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. They included allegations of torture by Iraqi forces and reports that suggested 15,000 additional civilian deaths in Iraq.

Obama calls for 2-year freeze on federal pay

President Barack Obama on Monday proposed a two-year freeze of the salaries of some 2 million federal workers, trying to seize the deficit-cutting initiative from Republicans with a sudden, dramatic stroke. Though signaling White House concern over record deficits, the freeze would make only a tiny dent in annual deficits or the nation's $14 trillion debt.
"Small businesses and families are tightening their belts," Obama said in brief remarks at the White House. "The government should, too." The administration said the plan was designed to save more than $5 billion over the first two years.
The proposal, which must be approved by Congress, would not apply to the military, but it would affect all others on the Executive Branch payroll. It would not affect members of Congress or their staffs, defense contractors, postal workers or federal court judges and workers.
Obama's move was an attempt to get in front of Republican plans to slash federal pay and the workforce next year, when they will flex more legislative muscle than now. It came a day ahead of Obama's meeting at the White House with both Republicans and Democratic leaders — his first with Republicans since the midterm elections — and two days before the deadline for recommendations by his deficit-reduction commission.
The president said the economy and federal spending were at the top of the agenda for Tuesday's meeting, one he said he hoped "will mark a first step towards a new and productive working relationship" between the two parties. Because of GOP midterm gains, "we now have a shared responsibility to deliver for the American people on the issues that define not only these times but our future," Obama said.
House Republican leader John Boehner of Ohio, on track to become House speaker in January, said he was pleased with the president's announcement.
"Republicans and Democrats don't have to wait until January to cut spending and stop all the tax hikes. We can — and should — start right now," Boehner said in a statement. He also suggested that Obama was taking a page from the GOP playbook.
The freeze would take effect on Jan. 1, assuming the lame-duck Congress approves the move by the end of this year. The 2012 pay freeze will be included by Obama as part of his fiscal 2012 budget submission to Congress, due early next year.
In the past, Congress has generally gone along with presidential recommendations on federal worker pay levels.
Without congressional action, federal employees would automatically get a 0.9 percent increase under the formula set by a 1990 law. They received a 1.9 percent pay increase this year.
Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., in line to be the next chairman of the House committee that oversees federal personnel issues, called Obama's federal salary freeze "long overdue." But labor union leaders balked at it.
John Gage, president of the 600,000-member American Federation of Government Employees, called the decision "a slap at working people. ... To symbolically hit at federal employees I think is just wrong." He said the move would not really save as much as the White House claims because federal employees often get just a fraction of projected raises.
Colleen Kelley, head of the 150,000-member National Treasury Employees Union, said union officials would try to derail the proposal in Congress. She may find some sympathy with union-friendly Democrats still in control for another month.
"We're going to do everything we can to make this not happen and to explore all our options," Kelley said.
The president's move bows to growing budget concerns and pressure from Republicans, and many rank-and-file Democrats, to rein in federal pay and benefits.
The federal government is the nation's largest employer, with about 2 million workers. About 85 percent of them work outside of the Washington, D.C., area.
Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., now the House majority leader, said he would closely study Obama's request.
"Meaningful deficit deduction cannot be achieved through a piecemeal approach to trimming federal spending," Hoyer said. Active members of the military "serving in harm's way" should be exempt, he said, but he questioned the wisdom of leaving out military members in noncombat roles while subjecting their civilian counterparts to the freeze.
"I did not reach this decision easily, this is not a line item on a federal ledger, these are people's lives," Obama said.
But, he added, "getting this deficit under control is going to require some broad sacrifice, and that sacrifice must be shared by the employees of the federal government." He said he was just asking civil servants "to do what they've always done — play their part."
Federal workers are an easy target. Polls show rising public anger toward the federal government at a time of high continued unemployment and Wall Street and auto bailouts.
Federal workers have been less directly affected by the recession than other sectors, with fewer layoffs and continued annual pay increases. Republican and fiscal conservative critics have argued that federal employees are better paid than private-sector counterparts, although public workers' unions dispute this.
Shortly after taking office in January 2009, Obama froze salaries of top White House officials and top political appointees.
Congress, not covered by Obama's new freeze plans as separate branch of government, froze its pay last April, with House and Senate votes to forgo an automatic $1,600 annual cost of living increase.
House members and senators are paid $174,000 a year. Their last pay increase was $4,700 a year at beginning of 2009. The president's pay of $400,000 a year was fixed by Congress in January 2001 and has not changed since then.
The co-chairmen of Obama's bipartisan deficit commission, Republican Alan Simpson and Democrat Erskine Bowles, have proposed a three-year freeze in pay for most federal employees as part of their plan to reduce the nation's growing deficit.
The federal government is on track to rack up the third trillion-dollar-plus deficit in history. Yearly deficits have ballooned primarily as a result of falling tax revenues and rising recession-related costs. Last year's deficit totaled $1.3 trillion, second highest in history, down from the all-time record of $1.4 trillion set in 2009. The government's budget year begins on Oct. 1 and ends on Sept. 30.
The national debt — the total amount owed by the government, essentially the sum of previous budget deficits — stands at $13.8 trillion.
Obama indicated there were other belt-tightening steps ahead. "We're going to have to make some additional very tough decisions that this town has put off for a very long time," he said. At the same time, noting continued economic weakness, Obama said, "We can't put the brakes on too quickly" because of the still-fragile economy.
Jeffrey Zients, deputy White House budget director, told reporters the two-year freeze on Executive Branch civilian workers was "the first of many difficult steps ahead that we'll be taking in the upcoming budget to put our nation on sound fiscal footing, steps that will ask for all of us to sacrifice."

José Mourinho admits Barcelona's thrashing of Real Madrid was fair

José Mourinho

José Mourinho looks dejected after watching his Real Madrid side lose 5-0 to Barcelona at Camp Nou. Photograph: Manu Fernandez/AP Real Madrid departed Camp Nou heads down and in silence last night. While five kilometres away Barcelona's fans spilled on to Las Ramblas in celebration, there was not a word from the men their team had defeated. None of Real Madrid's players faced the media. José Mourinho did – on the night he suffered the worst defeat of his coaching career.
He conceded there could be no excuse. He also admitted he had spent the second half, during which he barely ventured from his dugout, merely watching the clock run down, knowing there was no way back.
"This is the first time I have ever been beaten 5-0," Mourinho said. "It is a historically bad result for us. It is not a humiliation but I am very disappointed. It is sad for us.
"But it is not difficult for me to swallow. What's difficult to swallow is when you lose a game because you have hit the post or the referee has been bad. I have left here in that state before with Chelsea and Inter Milan but that was not the case tonight. It is easy for me to take because it is fair.
"We played very, very badly and they were fantastic. We gifted them two goals that were bordering on the ridiculous. It is our own fault."
Mourinho had said before the game that he hoped his team were mentally strong enough to lose and not be sunk by the result or stable enough to win and keep their feet on the ground. Now he had cause to return to that narrative.
"I hope this game does not affect us psychologically. I have spoken to the players and told them the title is not gone. We can't leave here crying. I left here defeated at the start of last season with Inter Milan and then at the end of the season we were playing in the Champions League final [having knocked out Barcelona], while they had to watch it on television.
"When you go 2-0 down you have two choices. You can say 'let's leave it at this' or you can take a risk and try to get into the game. They are very quick and dangerous on the counterattack and we paid for that. When they scored the third, the game was over. I knew we had no chance. We felt impotent. I am disappointed because I expected more but at that point all I wanted was for us not to lose our balance on the pitch."
Pep Guardiola, Barcelona's coach, said he was "proud the whole world has seen how we play football" but was keen not to write off Madrid or Mourinho. "Last week, you beat Almeria 8-0 and their coach was sacked," it was pointed out to Guardiola. "This week, you have beaten Madrid 5-0. Do you expect Mourinho to get the sack?" A smile and Guardiola said softly: "No." Then he left the building. Mourinho and his players had already long gone.

NAIROBI CELEBS GOSSIP

Jana Zein Noor had one of her ‘moments’. Those who work at Citizen know what I’m talking about. Her moments are special. She gets emotional analia all over, paranoid or super HAPPY in an instant. But jana she was just mad! During the day, they kosanad with a news director and she went off!!! Calling him names and all. The guy wasn’t going to take that crap lying down! He fired her! When she went to WW to tell him about it, all he could say was – you have to go – I can’t overrule my employees.
One of my bosses was super excited when Zein came to Citizen. But aih, I’m sure now he’s just *shaking his head* the mama LOOOVES acoho na vitu zingine sold by the kucha! Guys have seen her tipsy at work – and even sometimes before she goes on air! She needs to get high to function – so sad. Like watching her on Sato on Citizen TV was painful. Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi - Barcelona vs Real Madrid El Clasico

As nowadays FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are the two biggest and most successful clubs in Spain, the rivalry is renewed on an almost annual basis with both teams often challenging each other for the league championship El Clásico Barcelona and Real Madrid 29/11/2010 El Clásico 2010 FC Barcelona - Real Madrid Monday 29th November 2010, El Clásico will Kick Off time 21:00 CET Camp Nou Barcelona, The world is waiting with baited breath for the latest edition of the Spanish football Clasico between record-breaking twin giants Barcelona and Real Madrid on Monday. There is a special feel and intensity about this particular 'Clasico', for three main reasons. In the first place, both of the 'Big Two' have set off like an express train this season, and have a combined points total higher than ever before at this stage of the season. Secondly, Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi are both in astonishing form. Real's Ronaldo is top of the scorers' chart with 15 goals, Messi - who has scored in Barca's last 10 matches - is second with 13. Ronaldo has never scored against Barca and was dismal in last seasons 'Clasicos', both won by Barca. 'I really believe that we will win in the Camp Nou. We know that it will be difficult because Barca is a fantastic team with a good coach, but I am sure that it will be an interesting clash,' he said. But he added: 'This Madrid team is completely different from the one of last season, we have not lost a single match so far.' The third factor which makes this particular 'Clasico' special is the presence on the Real bench of a certain Jose Mourinho, who has become 'Public Enemy Number One' in Catalonia. On Monday, the loudmouth Portuguese coach said 'the Camp Nou will never forgive me for having eliminated Barca from the Champions League last season', when he was coach of Inter Milan. Mourinho has been throwing his habitual poisoned darts in the direction of Barcelona for three months now, but Barca coach Pep Guardiola and his players have done well not to rise to the provocations. All that Guardiola would say about 'El Clasico' after Wednesday's 3-0 romp away to Panathinaikos was that 'we are in good shape, but that is no guarantee. Every match is a test, and our opponents also have their virtues.' 'El Clasico' is scheduled for Monday because the Catalan regional elections will take place on Sunday. One would be forgiven for thinking that Barca v Real is the only football match taking place in Spain this weekend - so much media attention is it receiving - but, believe it or not, nine other Liga games are scheduled as well. On Saturday, third-placed Villarreal are away to bottom team Zaragoza, Valencia take on Almeria - now under new coach Jose Luis Oltra - and Atletico Madrid receive surprise package Espanyol. Sunday's games are Athletic Madrid v Osasuna, Sporting Gijon v Real Sociedad, Hercules v Levante, Racing Santander v Deportivo La Coruna and Mallorca v Malaga. The Dos and Don'ts of Being Single

Practice Your Dating Skills
"None of us is born knowing how to be in a relationship. Malcolm Gladwell, in his best-selling book Outliers, argues that virtually every skill can be mastered, if it's practiced for 10 years. He writes: 'The tennis prodigy who starts playing at six is playing in Wimbledon at 16 or 17. The classical musician who starts playing the violin at four is debuting at Carnegie Hall at 15 or so.' View being single as practice for being in a relationship. Don't expect to have the skills to be in a relationship right away."

KENYAN GOSSIPS

Halle Berry introduced him as Evans Wadongaw! He pecked her on both cheeks* sigh*

CNN heroes is an intiative by Time Warner to celebrate citizens of the world who are doing good in their countries. Evans Wadongo a 23 year old Kenyan was among this year’s top ten finalist.
Evans makes Mwanga Bora, a solar powered lantern  he distributes the lantern to households free of charge, so far he’s distributed over 10,000 units. He gets donations from well wishers and he pays a few volunteers to distribute the lanterns. He makes the lanterns from scrap metal and old solar panels. Growing up,  Evans developed an eye problem ‘cause of reading under a paraffin lantern. Plus the ‘smoke’ from the lantern was irritating.
He says he couldn’t compete in school with other kids, cause of all these problems … that’s why he came up with the lantern project. To help kids from under privileged families. So that they can be better in school.

Let’s all take a pause to celebrate this great Kenyan and how he is changing lives (and possibly donate to his cause)
I also want to encourage the media (Especially TV news, lifestyle magazines and national press) to highlight more of such great stories of selflessness and inspiration rather than focusing solely on discussing the stupidity of our ‘so called ‘celebs’ and good for nothing  idiotic politicians who mostly only think about themselves.
Ed note:  If any of you have any ideas or thoughts of ordinary Kenyans doing extraordinary things let us know and we will pass them onto key media stakeholders to highlight their philanthropic causes.
I was checking out the Standard and when I got to the Pulse,  I quickly threw the paper on the floor and sprinkled holy water on it!!!! WHY?? Not cause they had copy pasted posts from MM, nope … it’s cause of the YU AD BELOW – who the fuck is their Ad agency??? I thought it was a headless guy EEEK – when I got to work – I showed the girls and two actually ran away!!!

My pal summed it up nicely- they really want to fuck us up!  ‘It looks like they want to put fingers up our asses’
K-Twedi Four is sinking further into a HAWT MESS! Their haughty CEO Paul Wanyaga is living up to his rep of fucking up everything around him. Who hired this pompous idiot to run K24? In his tenure at KTN he was merely a lap dog and never added any meaningful value to the station. He has now embarked on his customary stupid management style making isolated nonsensical decisions, sending people on forced vacation, unceremoniously firing others like DAVID KIMOTHO … ROSE KIMOTHO’s brother without the basic courtesy of letting her know as an initiator. The place has further degenerated into a muddle with everyone watching their asses and not focusing on better content delivery.
This guy lacks in leadership skills and doesn’t have the faintest clue on how to inspire and set direction even for plebs. So far he can’t attract talent and is struggling for significance and wrestling control by instilling fear through erratic knee jerk decisions that have no bearing on the success of the business. We have waited to see enthused energy and an enhanced product brought about by his new ‘dominion’… Lakini wapi!
The People newspaper is set to re-launch early next month with a new design, improved image and kick ass editorial to push certain ‘agendas’ forward. I am dying to see what new innovative ideas they have for readers because Wanyaga has never done anything worthwhile rather than mainly kiss ass and schmooze the ‘right’ folk.
Since his ‘investiture’, the general mood of the place is clearly dampened by this disruptive force of an insecure fuck and I predict the only way is further down. Kwanza! PQ launches his new look KISS TV next week with a mix of News, Music and Soaps…K-Twedi Four will be further relegated in the pecking order of viewers. Its new owners will wonder why they even bothered because it will have next to zero ratings whilst hemorrhaging cash on poor content and pig headed management.
Chico Lawi will soon find himself escorted to the lifts veeery soon if he doesn’t style up! Sources at Capiro tell us that the wakubwas there are getting impatient by the day, cause Lawi is a freaking mess on air. Almost every news broadcast he does is painful to listen to, he makes soo many mistakes – and his accent is NEVER consistent.

They have thought of pre-recording him, but that only works for some segments, like business and sports. News on the top of the hour must be live always.
But I ask … why are the big shots complaining? Si they’re the ones that hired him??? What were they thinking??
I was confronted by an outlandish realization the other day that I feel compelled to share.  A pseudo middle aged man whom I met at a country club recently confirmed to me that ethnic chauvinism and nepotism is alive and well in the Kenyan media scene.
Sadly he seemed not to realize his off the cuff sentiments spoke volumes about how regressive some peoples thinking has become.
Now please y’all ! Please don’t shoot the messenger! If you don’t like what I am about say…then I suggest you take a deep breath and chill out, discuss among yourselves …Better still take a break, go to the bathroom and pleasure yourself or something…just do something or anything or whatever calms you down.
*Sigh* Anyway here goes…At this country club’s bar on that material day at 9pm the TV was tuned to KTN in time for prime news. The Gathee in question was like ‘Weeee!Toa hio KTN. Weka igine!…. Weka kwa Macharia ama kwa Uhuru! I was like ‘WTF!’
So I asked him ‘Why not KTN? He was like ‘Why should ‘we’ watch news of ‘Andu Acio!…yet we are THE CONTRORRERS of the medias? Eh?
Playing the fool I probed further and asked him to expound on ‘The Controrrers…’ I thought it was a blatant attempt to humour him but his egotistical self took the bait anyway.
Here is how he explained it. ‘KBC ni Waihenya in charge sasa! before him? Waweru na? Waruru! Okay? Okay.  Citizen si unajua tu!!Kei Twedi Fo? Obvious! Nation ni Rinus na before Kiboro na ? Wagethi? You see?
So? Why bother with people who don’t how to run business of media? Eh? Wanaweka urogo tu! Propagada stories….why bother?
*SMH*
In recapitulation, he closed the loop for me by declaring ‘You just wait for twedy twerof!’(Loud obnoxious laughter followed by coughing and… chocking as if…but not quite!!)
*SMH* Sisemi kitu na siongei!
Ed Note Guys we’ve closed off the discusssion on this post. The post was not meant to whip up tribal sentiments. I was just sharing what I thought to be surprising sentiments  I got from some random guy whom I thought to be pretty egostical and chauvanistic. I can’t even understand how anyone young or old for that matter can be  so tribal. We really need to style up and accept diversity. Let us all be family – cool?
Lets move on to the next post – anyone who posts tribal stuff on that one will get his/her comment deleted.
Linda Muthama alias Nyambane’s second wife amepata ball *SMH*. What the fuck is up with these so called Kenyan comedians?

Here is a sketch of how it went down…
ACT ONE
Linda went on air during DNG’s show on Kiss fm and confirmed she has been munching on Nyambane’s ‘sweetie banana’ so much so, that she is the official carrier of his third born child. Why she chose the mass media to announce her dubious status of wife wa kando remains a mystery.
ACT TWO
Whilst Linda was on air a ka random-brat (who no doubt when she grows up will run this site) instead of doing homework was busy listening to Kiss at the time. She skipped to their school the next day and widely spread the udakuu that their classmate ‘Nyambalet’ now had two mums!! Whaaaaa! High durama at that ka-primo!
ACT THREE
A dejected Nyambalet went home to discuss this new development with her mummy aka Mrs Nyambane Orichino! Naturally she went bananas (pun intended) and saw it fit to confront the vermin that is soon to be her estranged husband.
ACT FOUR
During the confrontation, the Mongare Mongrel was unsurprisingly unleashed and the true colours of a neanderthal wife beater came to the fore. Yaani Mrs Nyambane Orichino was beaten like she was a common witch from some Kisiii village! ‘Wewee! Unareta feeteena gani hapa!
ACT FIVE
*Sigh* She has now reached out to FIDA, her lawyer and Kilimani Police kufungua kesi. Her husband might be haveturned out to be another woman’s meat but to her he has become as rat poison…..
TO BE CONTINUED… (Piano and Organ music…fades away to some SDA church choir singing) lights slowly fade out.!!

Otherwise?? Niaje? Wee ni anchor ama we ni reporter? Or are you both? Aiiii!!!! Lakini it seems you’re unable to differentiate between the two roles. The way I see it, reporting can be sensational whilst reading news is almost always very matter of fact and controlled in delivery … ama aje?  You can’t read news the way you report mummy! You’re like ‘Jicho Pevu’ reading the news!!!!! All the same I guess in your own warped world it’s very okay to always shout whilst reporting. Jiangalie vile ‘allova’ sudden you start shouting for apparently no good reason in this exhibit A.

Okay now please! Promise that you’ll stop talking in CAPITAL LETTERS!

Delete Facebook to Save Your Marriage, Pastor Preaches

This week, the celebrity gossip columns were filled with reports of Tony Parker's text-based infidelity and wife Eva Longoria's subsequent divorce filing.
The news will probably add some fire to a small-town pastor's controversial sermon on the evils of social networking.
This Sunday morning at 9:30am, Reverend Cedric Miller (pictured) of the Living Word Christian Fellowship Church in Neptune, New Jersey, will ask his congregation of 1,100 to delete their Facebook accounts, in order to preserve their relationships.
"I've been in extended counseling with couples with marital problems because of Facebook for the last year and a half," Miller told the Associated Press. "What happens is someone from yesterday surfaces, it leads to conversations and there have been physical meet-ups. The temptation is just too great."
Eliot Subervi, a member of Miller's congregation told the New York Post that Facebook flirtations caused some trouble in his marriage
Reverend Miller is "not saying Facebook is the devil," Subervi told PCMag. "He's just saying it's another place where temptation can arise and if it does, take yourself out of the mix. It's like—if you're an alcoholic, you wouldn't hang out at a bar."
Using another sermon-like analogy, Subervi linked the emergence of the Internet to the disapperarance of the town square.
"At one point we had a town square—where couples would go to listen to bands, talk—and then they went home together. The husband didn't stay at the town square while the wife went home," said Subervi. "The Internet's become a town square where couples break off and do their own thing," he said.
But for couples who simply can't bring themselves to delete their Facebook accounts, even in the name of God, Subervi says to practice full transparency.
"If you're married, share passwords and log-ins," he said. "Or create a Family Page. I think [Facebook CEO] Mark Zuckerberg should heed the cry and make it easier to create Family Pages."
In another clash between God and technology this week, Guardian columnist Martin Robbins blogged about a group of Brazilian evangelical Christians who have banned the use of USBs because the symbol resembles the Satanic trident.

Chelsea Frustrations Continue

Newcastle   1 - 1   Chelsea

Carlo Ancelotti
Ancelotti's side have won only one of their last five Premier League matches

Chelsea missed out on the chance to return to the top of the table after being held to a draw at Newcastle.
A misjudged back-pass by Alex gifted Andy Carroll the easiest of finishes to give the home side a fifth-minute lead.
Chelsea were poor in the first half but went into the break level thanks to Salomon Kalou's deflected finish.
The visitors improved after the break but a winner eluded them and they are now second in the league, two points behind Manchester United.
Despite taking only four points from the last 15 available in the Premier League, talk of a full-blown crisis at Chelsea is somewhat premature. However the sense remains that something is not quite right at Stamford Bridge, both on and off the pitch.
Whispers of unrest at the sacking of coach Ray Wilkins, coupled with yesterday's announcement of sporting director Frank Arnesen's impending departure have served only to place further scrutiny on a side whose confident early season swagger has been replaced by nervous uncertainty.
And although they improved in the second half against Newcastle they were still far from their best on a weekend when Manchester United hit Blackburn for seven and Arsenal fired four past Aston Villa.
Chelsea's problems in recent weeks have also extended beyond a lack of a cutting edge in front of goal.

Hughton pleased with Newcastle discipline
With eight clean-sheets to their name, they may still have the best defensive record in the Premier League, but with John Terry absent through injury and question marks over the fitness of their other centre-back regular Alex, recent flaws have been evident in their backline.
Having conceded three to Newcastle's north east rivals Sunderland a fortnight ago, Chelsea were almost behind within two minutes at St James' Park when centre-back Steven Taylor - making his first appearance of the season - was allowed to head towards goal from a free-kick swung in from the left.
Keeper Petr Cech clawed out this initial effort, but only to Shola Ameobi eight yards out and the striker should have scored but could only volley into the side-netting.
Newcastle have had their own problems of late, picking up only one point from their last three matches and going down 5-1 to Bolton last weekend. What they needed was something to lift their spirits - and Alex duly provided just that.

The insightful one
Jon Mikel Obi relinquished possession to Wayne Routledge in midfield but got back to flick the ball to the Brazilian. However the his subsequent back pass was overhit and beat the onrushing Cech to give Carroll the easiest of finishes into an unguarded net.
In reply, Didier Drogba drew a good save from Tim Krul with an angled drive, Ashley Cole saw a penalty shout waved away when he was clipped in the box by Cheik Tiote, and Alex saw a header cleared off the line by Jose Enrique, but otherwise Chelsea struggled to fashion chances.
However, with regular centre-back pairing Mike Williamson and Fabricio Coloccini suspended, Newcastle were weakened at the heart of their defence and with a minute to go until half-time Chelsea struck
Mikel fed the ball to Florent Malouda whose superb flick was straight into the path of Kalou. The Ivorian turned Sol Campbell in the box and his side-foot shot found the bottom right-hand corner via a deflection off Enrique.

Ancelotti relaxed over Chelsea form
The timing of the goal was ideal for the visitors, whose second-half performance was a vast improvement on their first. But despite their best efforts, they were unable to land a decisive blow.
Drogba had the ball in the net, but his effort was ruled out because the Ivorian had handled in the build-up, while Kalou somehow contrived to shoot into the side netting from close range when a committed Krul presented him with an unguarded goal.
Substitute Daniel Sturridge also fired wide after his initial shot had been blocked by Taylor.
The visitors were also indebted to Cole for a goal-line headed clearance from a Routledge angled shot from 20 yards, but in the end Newcastle will be happier with their point, which lifts them up to ninth.

NJ anti-Facebook pastor to resume job in 90 days

A pastor who barred church officials from using Facebook, saying it can lead to adultery, will take a 90-day sabbatical and return to his post, a church elder announced Sunday. The decision follows the pastor's admission that he engaged in a three-way sexual relationship a decade ago.
Leaders at the Living Word Christian Fellowship Church in Neptune gave the Rev. Cedric Miller a vote of confidence as the church's spiritual leader during a meeting Monday, Associate Reverend Linda Parreott said during church services.
The unanimous decision came after "prayer and thoughtful consideration" by the church's board of elders, along with recommendations from other local pastors, she said.
Miller announced earlier this week that he would be "taking some time off" and planned to return to his post at a later date. He offered to step down after the Asbury Park Press reported on court testimony he gave in April 2003. In it, he admitted having a threesome with his wife and a male church assistant and said the encounters sometimes took place during Thursday Bible study meetings and Sundays after church.
Church leaders had not commented publicly on his status until Sunday.
"We are confident that Pastor Cedric Miller is the man that God has chosen to lead this church into our destiny," Parreott said. "After 90 days, Pastor Cedric Miller will resume his goal to be senior pastor of this church."
Miller first made headlines earlier this month when he urged congregants to drop their Facebook accounts because he believes the social networking site facilitates affairs.
He recently ordered about 50 married church officials to delete their Facebook accounts or resign from their leadership positions. He also suggested that married members of the congregation do the same and said he was deleting his own account.
Miller said he made the request because 20 couples among the 1,100 members of his flock had run into marital trouble over the last six months after a spouse connected with an ex-flame over Facebook.
While addressing his congregation during Sunday's service, Miller said he has no intention of relinquishing his crusade against the purported evils of Facebook.
"You want to log on? Log onto God's words," Miller said while holding up the Bible. "Get your face in this book."
Facebook has not commented on Miller's statements about the social networking site.

Arsenal resolve impresses Arsene Wenger

Attacking Arsenal cheers Wenger
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger praised his side's character after they staved off an Aston Villa comeback to win 4-2.
Wenger's side had let a two-goal lead slip at Tottenham last Saturday and almost did the same again as they were pegged back to 2-1 and 3-2 at Villa.
"At 2-0, at half-time, you could feel what happened [against Tottenham] had an impact in their head," said Wenger.
"We could have crumbled or we could score again - and we did the latter. We got a good mental response."
Andrey Arshavin and Samir Nasri eased a dominant Gunners side ahead before Ciaran Clark pulled one back for a rejuvenated Villa.

Marouane Chamakh poked in a shot to put Arsenal 3-1 up and, after Clark struck again for the Midlands side, Jack Wilshere headed in to secure a Gunners win.
"This team is very interesting because they are on the same wavelength in the way they want to play," added Wenger, whose side had followed up their defeat by Tottenham with a Champions League loss at Braga in midweek.
"But they also fight for each other. I thought we had played well against Tottenham, had a lot of possession against Braga and we responded well again [at Villa].
"You do not always lose when you dominate games and we played well.
"Villa had a good comeback in the second half but we managed to find the response to come out on top."

'Arsenal were better' - Houllier
Villa manager Gerard Houllier blamed his side's first-half display for a defeat which he hopes will provide a learning experience for the Midlands club's players.
"We were poor in the first half. Whether it was because we showed them too much respect, or lacked experience, I don't know," said the Frenchman.
"We never got started. We were a different team in the second half, showed more energy and took more risks.
"It's just a shame that when we got to 2-1 that we couldn't keep the score like that for 10 minutes because after what happened to Arsenal last week, they would have been shaky.
"Their third goal was the pivotal moment of the game but overall we were beaten by a better team than ourselves, simple as that.
"The best thing to do as a team is to learn from that and the good thing is we did get a positive reaction in the second half."

Pirate Bay founders lose appeal

Pirate bay logo, AFP The site has become notorious for hosting links to pirated music, movies and games
Three founders of The Pirate Bay have lost an appeal against a conviction for illegally sharing copyrighted content.
The Swedish appeals court upheld the 2009 ruling against the site's founders which saw them sentenced to a year in jail and heavily fined.
The ruling reduces the sentences the men face but increases fines to 46m crowns (£4.1m).
Three of The Pirate Bay's four founders were in court for the verdict. The other was too ill to attend.
The original verdict on Peter Sunde, Fredrik Neij, Gottfrid Svartholm Warg and Carl Lundstrom was handed down in April 2009 following a lengthy trial.
Lawyers acting for music labels and movie studios alleged that via The Pirate Bay, the four men helped people circumvent copyright controls.
The founders defended themselves by saying that The Pirate Bay did not host any pirated material directly.
The appeal court ruling will see Mr Neij serve a 10 month sentence; Mr Sunde eight months and Mr Lundstrom four months. Once Mr Svartholm Warg is fit his "criminal liability" will be tested by the appeals court.

Throughout the legal action and appeal hearing The Pirate Bay website has continued to function.
"Today's judgment confirms the illegality of The Pirate Bay and the seriousness of the crimes of those involved," said the International Federation for the Phonographic Industry in a statement.
"It is now time for The Pirate Bay, whose operators have twice been convicted in court, to close. We now look to governments and ISPs to take note of this judgment, do the responsible thing and take the necessary steps to get The Pirate Bay shut down."

Berbatov could have scored more - Phelan
Sir Alex Ferguson paid tribute to striker Dimitar Berbatov after his five goals helped Manchester United thump Blackburn 7-1 at Old Trafford.
Berbatov becomes the fourth player to score five times in a Premier League match, emulating the feats of Andy Cole, Alan Shearer and Jermain Defoe.
"It was a fantastic achievement by Berbatov," said the United boss, whose side leapt to the top of the league.
"It helped him to strike early because he hadn't scored in 10 games."
Berbatov's first came in the second minute as United ran Rovers ragged almost from the first whistle to the last.
Although Berbatov's strike partner Wayne Rooney did not get on the scoresheet, the England forward was influential in much of United's good play and often tracked back to defend deep in his own half.

"Berbatov and Rooney were a good combination today - they interchanged brilliantly today. Wayne was fantastic," added Ferguson.
Berbatov, himself, was stunned by his achievement.
"I can't believe I scored five in a game, but it happened," said the 29-year-old. "I have scored that many before but it was a long time ago back home in Bulgaria.
"Today I did it in the Premier League. To stand next to people like Cole and Shearer is a great honour."
Berbatov's second came from a Pascal Chimbonda mistake before he added three more after the break.
"The first goal was the most important," he added. "It gives you the confidence to play.

Allardyce apologises to Rovers fans
"As a striker, people do tend only to look at the goals you score.
"I am more concerned with how I play but today was all about goals for me."
Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce said the fact he had to field a weakened side contributed to the heavy defeat.
"We're extremely disappointed with our performance and the result, and I'd like to apologise to Blackburn fans," he said.
"In saying that, this game can catch up with you and we had seven first-team players missing from the start. However, I did expect more from the players who did start.
"Unfortunately we caught United at their best. At half time we were 3-0 down and I told the players to protect that scoreline but they'd lost it by then."

Hacker fined over Soas student password scam

A computer hacker who broke into the email accounts of hundreds of students has been fined £21,000.
Daniel Woo, 23, a Bulgarian, admitted repeatedly posing as a student at the School of Oriental and African Studies in Bloomsbury, central London.
Police said Woo, of Knightsbridge, took financial data, and fraud later occurred in some accounts.
Southwark Crown Court gave Woo a 36-week suspended jail sentence for crimes under the Misuse of Computers Act.
He was caught installing password-capturing software by computer staff examining network problems.
Detectives then discovered Woo had been posing as a student to gain entry to the university's computer room.
He cracked students' passwords and installed a programme to harvest more passwords.
Woo has been banned from entering any university, college or place of higher education for a year without police consent.

Tiger Woods Influence Rating Drops To That Of Mel Gibson's

Despite TIGER WOODS' recent attempt to re-connect with fans following his high-profile string of infidelities, he has dropped over two-thousand places on a list of the most influential celebrities, reports TVNZ.com. A year since the start of his marriage breakdown, Woods recently began a PR campaign to restore his credibility as a sporting superstar, which included joining Facebook and Twitter.
However, according to the 'Davie Brown Index', a tool used by corporate clients to assess a celebrity's ability to influence customers, the former world number-one golfer now ranks 2,586th. Before the scandal that has dominated his public image in the past year, he ranked at 96th. The 34-year-old has suffered on and off the golf-course in recent months, with no wins, and a number of high-profile sponsors choosing to end their association with him. RICK HORROW, a sports lecturer at Havard Law School said, "No athlete has dropped so far, so fast in likability, trustworthiness and appeal", before adding, "Two years ago, the tour got used to dealing with life without Tiger because of injury. This last year, it was not life without Tiger, but life with a negative Tiger".
Before the initial incident outside his Florida home last year, Woods ranked in the same 'influence category' as Hollywood actor MATT DAMON and the late FRANK SINATRA. Following the scandal, the golfer is now closer to the controversial actor MEL GIBSON.

Facebook makes people more social: study

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Contrary to common belief social media websites such as Facebook do not weaken personal ties, they strengthen them in unique ways for different age groups, according to a new study.
The rapid spread of Facebook, which has more than 500 million users worldwide, has prompted concerns about its negative effects, but researchers at the University of Texas have reached a different conclusion.
"Our findings suggest that Facebook is not supplanting face-to-face interactions between friends, family and colleagues," said S. Craig Watkins, an associate professor of radio, TV and film who headed the research team.
"In fact, we believe there is sufficient evidence that social media afford opportunities for new expressions of friendship, intimacy and community."
The researchers questioned 900 college students and recent graduates about how and with whom they interact on Facebook.
More than 60 percent of Facebook users said posting status updates was among the most popular activities, followed by 60 percent who wrote comments on their profile and 49 percent who posted messages and comments to friends.
The researchers also found that although about the same number of men and women use Facebook, they do so in different ways.
"There is a noteworthy difference in orientation in how to use a tool like Facebook. We found that for women the content tends to be more affectionate, and (they) are especially interested in using it for connection," said Watkins.
"For men, it's more functional," he added.
Watkins pointed out that, for example, women are more likely to post pictures of social gatherings with friends, while men are more likely to post pictures of hobbies, or post a political or pop-culture related link.
He added that increased use of Facebook brings additional challenges as young adults are forced to adapt their Facebook behavior to an increasingly large social circle.
"Facebook brings all our different networks and social scenes together. We present ourselves in different ways, whether to friends, co-workers, or family," he said. "Facebook engagement is not uniform. It's constantly evolving and in a state of flux, and that presents a challenge."
