STUDIO CITY (LALATE) – Casa Vega was the core last night of a new feel for Flipping Out with Jeff Lewis, a series change resulting from the distinct exit of Ryan Brown and more on air coverage of Sarah Berkman. Lewis now heads into restaurant renovation for his new season. But as news reported this month, the unexplained departure Ryan Brown from the new season of Flipping Out leaves a clear void in the storyline and dynamic of the reality show. Last season, Jeff Lewis was trying to by left over embryos from Ryan Brown to buy a baby. Gone is that entire dynamic.
Attempting to fill the Brown void has been more on air time
with Sarah Berkman. Unfortunately it just doesn’t work. Berkman’s
appearance last night in Hot Streak is followed up by dominance in next
week’s episode called Hard to Break Family. Why is Berkman getting so
much on air time?
What news has yet to pickup was the peculiar line by Sarah
that “Jenny is off doing tv hosting and acting”. The reference is
clearly to Pulos’ co-hosting the AMA American Music Awards red carpet
action in November. At that time,
Jenni wasn’t twittering her Casa Vega gig but her hosting gig at the
AMA. “Just saw JLo rehearse for her performance this Sunday at the
AMA’s. Girls got mad skills! She is a triple threat. Sooooo talented!
Lady Gaga is my gal! Chillin at the AMA rehearsals. Check it out this
Sunday night on ABC.”
Bravo is missing the mix by giving Pulos less time on air, Berkman more. Berkman’s character feels like Stephanie Pratt has joined Flipping Out’s cast. While Casa Vega showed a promising twist to the new season of the reality show, the departure of Ryan Brown, the less air time for
the wonderfully entertaining Pulos, and the repeated use of Berkham
just add up for a lot of concern where the series is heading. But now
that Jeff can skip Pollo Loco and get salsa for free, perhaps Casa Vega
will help give Flipping Out’s storyline a new home that works.
