Justin Bieber Calls In Sick: An undisclosed illness kept Justin Bieber from performing on Sunday at the New York State Fair. The 16 year old singing sensation took to his Twitter page to let fans know the situation: “really dont know what to twitter…im getting rest right now and trying to recover from the not so good news from the doctor… im gonna be ok just need 2 rest but i wanted all of u 2 know i never want to let any of u down. ever. i really appreciate all the kind words. this really sucks.” The “Baby” singer is expected to return to the stage on Wednesday to make up for the missed date. Lil Wayne’s New Album: When Rapper Lil Wayne gets out of jail, his new music will get released too. The rapper who is serving time at Rikers Island for gun charges will be released from prison on November 5, and is expected to drop “Tha Carter IV” on the same day. The rapper is also slated to release a 10 song project, “I Am Not a Human Being,” on his birthday on September 27, according to MTV. [MTV]
John Cusack to Play Poe: In his next role, “High Fidelity’s” John Cusack will portray 19th century writer Edgar Allan Poe. The actor will begin filming director James McTeigue’s “The Raven” in October. Cusack has already begun preparing for the role, telling fans on Twitter: “officiali- will play edgar allen poe in fall-a-film called the raven, send any poe- gold - my way as i begin this journey into the abyss.”
Mark Ronson and D’Angelo Team Up: Producer Mark Ronson and singer D’Angelo will work together on the singer’s next release. The producer told Billboard he was “going into the studio… to work a bit on his record” and has “equal parts intimidation and awe and excitement.” Ronson, who worked on Amy Winehouse’s album “Back to Black,” says that D’Angelo is hard at work on his first album in ten years. Sandra Bullock Assists Clinic: Sandra Bullock continues to help New Orleans, this time opening a clinic. The “Blind Side” actress was on hand five years after Hurricane Katrina to mark the opening of a medical clinic on the campus of school that the Oscar winner has supported. “Sometimes tragedies bring out the very best in people and it’s one of the reasons why we stand in this school of excellence today,” Bullock told the audience. The $700,000 clinic will open in the fall and provide treatment for local residents.
