Actress Elizabeth
Taylor, the video vixen of her day, recently decided to release love
letters written to her from her on-again, off-again, beau, Richard
Burton. The first letter - and the only one that she decided to keep
private - was written to Elizabeth Taylor, just one day after they met
on the set of Cleopatra, where Elizabeth Taylor played the title role.
According to Vanity Fair, who Elizabeth Taylor released the letters to,
the love letters range from the romantic to the naughty. Richard Burton
even called Elizabeth Taylor 'My Lumps' (sounds a little like Fergie's
'Lady Lumps, right?). Here's a snippet of Richard Burton's romantic
musings to Elizabeth Taylor:
I am forever punished by the gods for being given the fire and trying to put it out. The fire, of course, is you,” the actor wrote in one letter. The fundamental and most vicious, swinish, murderous and unchangeable fact is that we totally misunderstand each other ... we operate on different wavelengths. You are as distant as Venus — planet, I mean.
Richard Burton was
getting his Shakespeare on for Elizabeth Taylor, wasn't he?
