Bristol Palin, daughter
of former
Alaska Gov.
Sarah Palin, is continuing her campaign against teen pregnancy.
The Candie's Foundation just released a
public service announcement featuring
Bristol, warning that if it weren't for her fame, family, and
opportunities, her life as a teen mom of son Tripp would be much less
glamorous. Watch:
Bristol, of course, is nationally known because her
pregnancy became public
immediately after
John
McCain selected her mother as his GOP
running mate in the 2008 presidential
campaign. Since the Palin choice was targeted at socially conservative
"movement" voters, her daughter's status as an unmarried and pregnant
17-year-old created a minor furor at the time. Bristol has remained in
the public eye since, with appearances on
magazine covers and
TV shows, and also
thanks to her later split with the child's father,
Levi Johnston. Johnston's
repeated media appearances discussing Bristol and her mother have been
ready fodder for the gossip circuit.
Bristol Palin's anti-pregnancy campaigning also comes
after
she initially called efforts to promote abstinence to teens "not
realistic." She's since
reversed her position
and
worked with the Candie's
Foundation, her mother, and others encouraging teenagers to abstain.
