Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!
We Lillahi al Hamd!
On the great occasion of the 1431st Eid ul-fitr, the Network of Ethiopian Muslims in Europe (NEME) extends its congratulation to its member community organisations, and the Ethiopian Muslim communities and individuals both at home and in the Diaspora. It expresses its sincere wish for this day of Eid to be a jubilant and enjoyable event. Eid Mubarak!
The Eid ul-fitr remarks the end of Ramadhan, the month of Quran, the month of prayers, the month of unity and brotherhood, the month of forgiveness and mercy, and the month of good deeds and positive thinking. Allah (sw) made the month an opportunity for us to be drown closer to Him through fasting, praying and asking for forgiveness. With this understanding, we all have been striving hard to live as righteous as humanely possible; perform as much good deeds as we could while shunning all acts and thoughts that are forbidden.
The qualities we developed during the month of Ramadhan need to be nourished further and allowed to be part of our life in the days ahead. As we leave the congregations after Eid prayers, lets also have the determination to continue to shun evil and pledge to continue repenting for our sins and progressively strengthen our bond with the Creator. If we can succeed in doing this, then we have indeed benefited from our fasting and met the primary objective for which it is prescribed in the first place – i.e Taqqiwa (Quran 02, 183). Those who failed to meet this goal are the losers of the worst type, may Allah spare us from being among the losers, Amin.
As we celebrate Eid, lets also remember, both in deeds and good words, the less-fortuned amongst from us and for our brothers who are celebrating this joyful day in difficulties.
Lets pray for our country and is people; for all humanity and the world at large; for its security and peace.
Lets be steadfast to endure the challenges we meet in our daily life, both as individuals and as organised communities. Amen!
Eid Mubarak - Kulu Amun we Antum bi-Khair!
Taqabal Allahu Minna we Minkum!
