KELIS fired up her own
barbecue in her dressing room to celebrate the 4th July on Sunday.The R&B star always celebrates American Independence Day with an outdoor feast, and even though she was in the UK this weekend for the annual holiday she decided she was going to have a cook-up anyway.
The Mikshake hitmaker — who was performing in Weston-Super-Mare, England, at the T4 On The Beach concert, hosted by British TV station Channel 4 — rushed out and bought some portable barbecues and began cooking a host of calorific treats, including rib eye steaks, salmon, corn on the cobs, hamburgers and hot dogs.
“Kelis was cooking up a storm backstage,” a source said. “The smell of the steaks on the BBQ was mouth watering. Perhaps Channel 4 should give her a cooking show of her own!”
A host of other artists and backstage passers-by joined Kelis — whose new single 4th Of July (Fireworks) hits shops Monday – for the food until concerned fire wardens put a halt to the impromptu barbecue after seeing the smoke.
Other acts to perform at T4 On The Beach included Dizee Rascal and Alexandra Burke.
