Naomi Campbell Must Testify In War Court

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been ordered to tesify at a war crimes court about a "blood diamond" allegedly given to her by former Liberian president Charles Taylor.

Campbell has been told she must appear in The Hague on July 29 or face up to seven years in jail.
The subpoena was made by judges at the Special Court for Sierra Leone.
Taylor has been on trial since 2008 for his alleged role in the civil war in that country, accused of arming rebels in return for illegally mined diamonds.

Unlike Campbell, actress Mia Farrow has agreed to testify in the Taylor case
Thousands of people were killed or brutally maimed during the 1991-2001 conflict.
Campbell has been summoned following claims made by actress Mia Farrow, who has agreed to testify at the hearing.
Farrow said Campbell was given a gem by Taylor after a celebrity dinner hosted by then South African president Nelson Mandela in September 1997.
Campbell has repeatedly refused to give evidence on the matter.
The court said the summons will be delivered to Campbell's lawyer in London, Gideon Benaim, who has told the court he will accept it.
Prosecutors said they had not known about the Campbell diamond, which they consider "material" to the case, until June 2009.
Campbell's UK publicist refused to comment on the court case.
